Mel's Memos: Go With The Flow
On Friday, I got an unexpected call. One of my supervisors announced that I would be teaching at a new location and working year-round instead of having my summer off as scheduled. I became angry thinking of all the new preparations I would have to make. To make matters worse, an internship I wanted fell through soon after. Disappointed and discouraged, I started to question if all of the work I'd put in for this new career path was even worth it. Balancing work and long hours of studying was becoming a burden and I felt like throwing in the towel, but I was reminded of Romans 8:28: “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” God wasn't dismissing my path, I was getting a new route.
So many times, we put unnecessary timelines on our lives. We think we should have 2 degrees, be happily married with 2.5 (lol) kids in a 3 bedroom house by the time we're 30, and label ourselves failures if we don't succeed. Take note, you are exactly where you are supposed to be. God doesn't work on timelines, He works through faith and preparation. Be encouraged. Everything happens for a reason, and the "NOs" you receive are there to bless and protect you, not to deter you.
God has never taken something away and failed to come through with an upgrade.
Live loved.
